Installing a Feed The Beast Server on Multicraft

We recommend that you have at server with at least 2GB of RAM if you wish to run a Feed The Beast server. You can order a Feed The Beast server here or upgrade an existing server here.

Installing Feed The Beast (Quick guide)

  1. Decide which Feed The Beast package you wish to run
  2. Stop Server
  3. Delete Server files
  4. Upload Feed The Beast package downloaded from Feed the Beast website
  5. Extract Feed The Beast package using the Backup Restore tool*
  6. Set Multicraft to check Server Folder for JAR files (Raise a support ticket to get us to do this)
  7. Choose the Feed The Beast option that matches your package from the Server JAR selection list
  8. Start Server
*Alternately, you can upload and extract the Feed The Beast package in one single step using the Multicraft FTP client (How To: FTP)

Decide which Feed The Beast package you wish to run

 

Stop Server

  1. Click the Stop button on your Server Control Panel

 

Delete Server files

  1. Use an FTP client to connect to your server folder (How To: FTP)
  2. Download any files that you wish to keep - e.g. backup files - (or create a new folder and move them into it)
  3. Delete all other files. Files you may want to keep:
  • server.properties
  • ops.txt
  • banned-players.txt
  • banned-ips.txt
  • whitelist.txt

 

Upload the Feed The Beast package downloaded from Feed The Beast site

  1. Download the package that you wish to use
  2. Use your FTP client to upload the package file to your server folder (How To: FTP)

 

Extract Feed The Beast package using the Backup Restore tool

  1. On your Server Control Panel, in the left hand menu, click 'Files' then 'Backup'
  2. On the Backup screen, in the left hand menu, click 'Restore'
  3. You will see the Feed The Beast package listed, click on the 'Restore' link next to it

 

Set Multicraft to check your Server Folder for JAR files

  1. On your Server Control Panel, in the left hand menu, click 'Console'
  2. Type in the following command then click 'Send':
    • builtin:script provision --JDSB

 

Choose the Feed The Beast option that matches your package from the Server JAR selection list

  1. On the Server Control Panel, choose the Feed The Beast option (that matches the pack you installed) from the JAR file Selection drop-down menu
  2. Click the 'Save' button at the bottom
  • If your server fails to start, it may be because the server JAR is named ftbserver.jar. If this is the case then choose the general FTB option from the drop-down

Rename the ftbserver.jar to the correct servername

Each modded server requires the server name to match the one in the control panel.

  1. Using FTP you rename the ftbserver.jar to the server.jar name
  2. If you have downloaded and installed ultimate you rename ftbserver.jar to ultimate.jar
    These are what you should rename the server jar to for each mod pack.
 
  • FTB Beta 1.5 GregTech : ftbserver.jar > ftbbeta-gt.jar
  • FTB Beta 1.5 No GregTech : ftbserver.jar > ftbbeta-nogt.jar
  • Unhinged : ftbserver.jar > unhinged.jar
  • Unleashed : ftbserver.jar > unleashed.jar
  • Ultimate : ftbserver.jar > ultimate.jar
  • YogCraft : ftbserver.jar > yogcraft.jar
  • Mindcrack : ftbserver.jar > mindcrack.jar
  • Direwolf20 : ftbserver.jar > direwolf20.jar
  • Direwolf20 : ftbserver.jar > direwolf20_1_5.jar
  • Tech World : ftbserver.jar > techworld.jar
  • Ampz : ftbserver.jar > ampz.jar
  • Beta Pack A : ftbserver.jar > FTB-Beta-A.jar
  • FTB Lite : ftbserver.jar > ftblite.jar
  • Magic World : ftbserver.jar > MagicWorld.jar
  • RPG Immersion : ftbserver.jar > rpgimmersion.jar
  • Magic World : ftbserver.jar > MagicWorld.jar
  • RetroSMP : ftbserver.jar > retrosmp.jar
  • Tech World : ftbserver.jar > techworld.jar
 
Start Server

Click the Start button on your Server Control Panel

Updating Feed The Beast (Quick guide)

  1. Stop Server
  2. Delete Feed The Beast Server files (remove everything except for the folder containing your world data)
  3. Upload Feed The Beast package downloaded from the Feed The Beast site
  4. Extract Feed The Beast package using the Backup Restore tool
  5. Start Server
