How To : Use the FileZilla XML Import File

Downloading the FileZilla XML Import File

This file can be used to import all the FTP settings directly into FileZilla, except for your password . For security reasons we cannot automatically put your password into this file. You will have to enter the password into FileZilla manually after you have run the import.

  1. Log into the Multicraft panel
  2. Click Files and then FTP File Access on the left hand menu
  3. This will take you to the FTP Server Login page, the FTP details for your server should also be displayed.
  4. Click the Download as FileZilla XML Import (Password not included) button.
  5. The browser should now download the import file.

Importing the FileZilla XML Import File

The following steps will guide you through the process of taking the file you just downloaded and importing the settings contained within it.

  1. Open FileZilla
  2. From the menu, click File and then Import....
  3. Select the FileZilla XML Import file and click Open.
  4. In the next dialog window, make sure Site Manager entries is ticked and click Ok.
  5. You should now get a confirmation dialog window, click Ok to dismiss it.

Entering Your Password into a FileZilla Site Manager Record

Note:
Please be aware that storing your password in any software is not a good choice for security reasons. If you still want to have it be saved, continue with these steps, if you do not want it to be saved, go to the section about how to get Filezilla to prompt you for your password each time you go to log in.

  1. Open the Site Manager, using one of the following methods:
    • Click File then Site Manager...
    • Ctrl+S or Cmd+S
    • Click the first icon on the toolbar
  2. On the left of the site manager you will see the My Sites list, expand the Sticky Piston folder (if you need to) and locate the entry for your server. The name of the site will be the same as the name you set for the server in Multicraft
  3. Click on the site to highlight it, the details for the site will appear on the right.
  4. In the General tab, find the Password field and replace the contents with your Multicraft password.
  5. Click Ok to save the changes or click Connect to save the changes and connect to the FTP server.

Asking for Your Password on Each Login

This is the recommended way of having Filezilla get your password from you. This is due to the way Filezilla saves passwords.

  1. Open the Site Manager, using one of the following methods:
    • Click File then Site Manager...
    • Ctrl+S or Cmd+S
    • Click the first icon on the toolbar
  2. On the left of the site manager you will see the My Sites list, expand the Sticky Piston folder (if you need to) and locate the entry for your server. The name of the site will be the same as the name you set for the server in Multicraft
  3. Click on the site to highlight it, the details for the site will appear on the right.
  4. Change the Logon type to be Ask for password
  5. Remove everything from the Password box.
  6. Click Ok to save your changes or click Connect to save your changes then connect automatically.
