What to Expect out of your MCSX – Minecraft: PS1 Edition Server

Enjoy the block game in a fresh coat of paint through MCSX. Most of what is known about the block game has been enhanced to be felt as if it was made back on the PlayStation 1. With the help of Controllable, you can even experience the game using a gamepad/controller.

Lots of small changes have been added aside from just the controller addition. Find the new Fishing Overhaul which adds a minigame to improve loot with fishing or even small things such as the Blinking Ender Eyes, signifying something creepy going on. New experience orbs are also added thanks to CraftingXP to gain levels rather than just simply mining or killing mobs.

There are also quite a few larger scale additions to help see more that weren’t there before. Mobs from the mob vote have been added with Friends & Foes, bringing in new companions that were dumped off. There’s also YDM’s Iceologer to include a new danger for the experience in the mountains. You might also come across the rare Naturally Charged Creepers who deal lots of explosive damage or the mysterious Spawner Head, ready to summon more mobs to get rid of you. Minecraft has been changed and coded in a way to feel more complete but still given a nostalgic feeling.

    To avoid lag or memory errors, order a minimum of 3GB of RAM. If you are playing with friends or planning on hosting a public server consider ordering 4GB or more. You won't know your exact requirements until you start building and getting more players on. Don't worry you can quickly upgrade your memory as your server grows. Follow this guide if you need to upgrade.

  • Recommended Max Players is our best guess on how many slots gives good performance per GigaByte of RAM. It relates to how many players can join before running into lag or out-of-memory errors. Newer servers with lots of mods/plugins will have less players per GB, you won't know exactly how many players until your server gets busy. You have Unlimited Slots, set this in the control panel, use your slots wisely. It's a guideline not set in bedrock!

Why is MCSX - Minecraft: PS1 Edition so Laggy and Stuttering?

The reason is CurseForges' Launcher is missing the default Minecraft JAVA Arguments, without these will cause client lag such as judders or client lockups, commonly known as lag spikes. To fix CurseForge MCSX lag, do this:

  1. Open the CurseForge app
  2. Click Cog > Minecraft
  3. Add this to Additional Arguments
  4. Increase the Allocated Memory to modpack authors recommended settings
  5. Click the top-right
  6. Restart the MCSX, for no lag
