These new saplings make it possible to grow resources such as dirt or lapis. There’s also Animal Crops in which instead of trying to wait for a mob to spawn through a patch of grass, you can instead grow these mobs from the ground up inside of a regular wheat farm. After enough time growing these crops and planting these orchards, you will learn the inner workings of ProjectE, a mod which uses a system called EMC to transfer the amount of one item’s value to an entirely new item like dirt to diamonds.

Quick Summary of the Sky Factory Modpack Series

The Sky Factory Server starts you off standing on top of a tree and a singular piece of dirt, surrounded by a vast area of nothing. It’s a void for all intents and purposes, with a sun rising in the east and a moon falling to the west. In this series, you’re tasked with building out from these small pleasures to create one of the most tech filled worlds to exist. You’ll soon learn to grow a platform so big you have one area covered in pigs turning into glass and redstone to another area housing a humming nuclear reactor.

What to Expect out of your SkyFactory 4 server

The 4th iteration of this modpack server hosting brings in new types of challenges around for you to deal with. You’ll need to start with gathering materials under the Sky Orchards. These new saplings are what make possible to obtain more dirt to grow out your skyblock or obtain things like diamonds. As you invest into these trees for a farm, you’ll also want to pay attention to the Animal Crops. With these crops you can start growing mobs instead of constantly waiting for the right one on top of slowly building grass blocks. When you grow enough of these trees and enough of these animals, you will start to lean into ProjectE. Transmuting all your hard work into EMC will make it possible to start turning cobblestone from the Cobblestone farm into valuable resources like gold.

Getting Started

  1. You will start on an island in a classic Sky-Block style void
  2. Follow the Quests to advance your creations
  3. When you complete a chapter, press P to open your Prestige menu
  4. Unlock cool upgrades and powers with Prestige and complete all the quests

Memory Requirements & Player Slots

  • Memory Guideline
    To avoid lag or memory errors, order a minimum of 4GB of memory. If you are playing with friends or planning on hosting a public server consider ordering 5GB or more. You won't know your exact requirements until you start building and getting more players on. Don't worry you can quickly upgrade your memory as your server grows. Follow this guide if you need to upgrade.

  • Recommended Max Players is our best guess on how many slots gives good performance per GigaByte of memory. It relates to how many players can join before running into lag or out-of-memory errors. Newer servers with lots of mods/plugins will have less players per GB, you won't know exactly how many players until your server gets busy. You have Unlimited Slots, set this in the control panel, use your slots wisely. It's a guideline not set in bedrock!

Why is SkyFactory 4 so Laggy and Stuttering?

The reason is CurseForges' Launcher is missing the default Minecraft JAVA Arguments, without these will cause client lag such as judders or client lockups, commonly known as lag spikes. To fix CurseForge SkyFactory 4 lag, do this:

  1. Open the CurseForge app
  2. Click Cog > Minecraft
  3. Add this to Additional Arguments
  4. Increase the Allocated Memory to modpack authors recommended settings
  5. Click the top-right
  6. Restart the SkyFactory 4, for no lag

Changing your world generator

To use any of these world generators on your server you need to edit the generator-settings in the server.properties file: Your server.properties can be found under Config Files > server.properties Change the level-type and generator-settings to match any of the presets below. level-type=topography generator-settings={“Topography-Preset”:”Sky Factory 4″} You will also need to enter a new world name in the world field to create a fresh world, click save, then restart. If you miss this step the nothing will happen!

Enabling Prestige Mode

SkyFactory 4 prestige mode is usually turned on in world creation but for a server you will need to access the config files and enable it. This is best done before anyone joins for the first time as it allows everyone to start on a level playing field.

  • Go to your Multicraft control panel
  • Click on `Config Files` in the left navigation menu
  • Locate `prestig.cfg` and click on `Edit`

The setting you are looking for is as follows;
