Welcome to the Happiest Minecraft Game Drop – Chase The Skies! ☁️
We got a pretty darn good clue as to what we were getting in Summer thanks to Minecraft Live – March 2025! But the name of this drop wasn’t even revealed until the end of May.
But aren’t we all glad the name and features have shown themselves. We got a new fellow passive mob coming in to improve our building, the newest ability to help find friends, and even the introduction of a fun Minecraft Mapmaking tool!
Main Highlights to 1.21.6
- Introduction to recipes for old items like the saddle
- Improved Mechanics for the shears and lead
- Different Ghast variations to give the player a pleasant time
- The tool of dialogs to give a fun tool for data pack creators
This Update has made the Ghasts Happy
Take heed Minecraft players! We’re going to be going into the Nether to find ourselves the new Dried Ghast block. With this block, we’ll safely escort it into the overworld and submerged it into water. Once 20 minutes have passed, it will become the cute new Ghastling! So long as we keep it alive and well kept up, it will spawn our new friend – The Happy Ghast!
With this new Happy Ghast, you can use it for all kinds of things! Take to the skies with 3 other friends as you all make your way across potentially dangerous areas of the world safely. Build safely as you stand upon the Happy Ghast. Or maybe just play a game of Snowball Tag with it.
Express More Potential for your Map or Data Pack
Mojang has introduced the power of dialogs to the player! But what are dialogs?
This new command syntax allows it so that way mapmakers, data pack developers, or even server operators can create custom menu screens! You could make it appear as if they’re performing a multiple choice question, can give a warning before they do any specific action, or just be used for silly tricks and trolls. The possibilities are endless!
Get Teared up for New Music
Remember when you got an advancement for deflecting a Ghast’s fireball? Well now that’s not the only thing you get! They drop the Tears music disc (music by Amos Roddy) after that happens too! There’s also more music given for the environment by Amos too. They are Below and Above, Broken Clocks, Fireflies, Lilypad, and O’s Piano.
I have lost my Friend! Mojang help!
Oh no! My friend and I were exploring completely opposite directions and we have lost on where we are supposed to be! Mojang – how do we find each other!?
Well fear not players. Mojang has came to the rescue with the new locator bar! While this does temporarily replace the experience bar, it is also used to locate players from far distances or, with commands, can be used to create waypoints! Now my friend and I can find out where we are and estimate where the other is.
Well.. what’s next?
We don’t necessarily know what’s coming for the next drop.. so what is next for Mojang to make?
Well we got a chance to predict what might be coming next! The next update is fall so we might have something related to horror or, at the very least, something spooky.
And what’s more spooky than The End! A mysterious place, a place of unknown origin, a symbol of the literal end. We think that The End will finally be seeing a few additions alongside an easier way to teleport across dimensions. So here’s what we are expecting if this is the case:
- A New Structure – This structure might be associated to those ancient builders..
- Phantom Changes – Phantoms will spawn naturally in the End instead of being insomnia related.
- FrENDerman – A friendly Enderman, just like the Happy Ghast!
- Ender Arrows – Arrows that allow the player to shoot in a straight line.
- Forgotten Oasis – An old biome with ice and strange End plants, giving the feeling of life now being gone.
- Dimension Predicate – And finally, a predicate for the /tp command to teleport across dimensions.
Are these speculations a stretch? Yes! But isn’t that the fun part of speculation and theory crafting?
