From the many arrows in the night coming to caves becoming your potential grave, you’ll need to think outside the box and allocate your strength proportionally. Only true dragons can pass. Play as Dragon: Gothic Edition combines the aspect of living as a dragon with the love of Piranha Bytes’ games. The creativity of Minecraft comes together with the sternness of Gothic RPG. Before you encounter a ton of these new creatures though, it’s best you get yourself prepped. You’ll encounter Better Villages to get you quickly geared up and prepped to explore the lands outside. This way you can fight against those Gothic Creatures that are out there.

Now how does living as a dragon come into play with this though? Well, you are given what is called the Dragon Altar in which you can place down. This is from the Dragon Survival mod and once it’s placed, you can choose between different dragons to form as your own and use the abilities of. Of course, you can always live as a human too, just be careful to avoid attacks and figure out how you’ll live without the ability to fly.

    To avoid lag or memory errors, order a minimum of 8GB of RAM. If you are playing with friends or planning on hosting a public server consider ordering 9GB or more. You won't know your exact requirements until you start building and getting more players on. Don't worry you can quickly upgrade your memory as your server grows. Follow this guide if you need to upgrade.

  • Recommended Max Players is our best guess on how many slots gives good performance per GigaByte of RAM. It relates to how many players can join before running into lag or out-of-memory errors. Newer servers with lots of mods/plugins will have less players per GB, you won't know exactly how many players until your server gets busy. You have Unlimited Slots, set this in the control panel, use your slots wisely. It's a guideline not set in bedrock!

Why is Play as Dragon: Gothic Edition so Laggy and Stuttering?

The reason is CurseForges' Launcher is missing the default Minecraft JAVA Arguments, without these will cause client lag such as judders or client lockups, commonly known as lag spikes. To fix CurseForge Play as Dragon: Gothic Edition lag, do this:

  1. Open the CurseForge app
  2. Click Cog > Minecraft
  3. Add this to Additional Arguments
  4. Increase the Allocated Memory to modpack authors recommended settings
  5. Click the top-right
  6. Restart the Play as Dragon: Gothic Edition, for no lag
