How to install the Dynmap Mod on a modded server

Dynmap allows you to add a webbased map to see what your world looks like, it is possible to use such a plugin, though for modded server you will need to use the Dynmap mod instead.

This can be found here http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1543523-dynmap-dynamic-web-based-maps-for-minecraft/

  1. Download the correct version to match your version of modpack like 15.2.or 1.6.4
  2. You need to uplaod that mod to your /mod/ folder using FTP and restart your server

  3. You will need to change the default port number to something else as the default port will most likely be taken
  4. You will find the config file (configuration.txt) in the /dynmap/ folder on your server

Port Setting

You can change the port value for the webserver in the config file, look for the setting:

webserver-port:

We suggest you set this to a value in the range 8124 - 8191. If you leave it at the default value of 8123 then you stand an increased chance of clashing with another server on the same node.

Map Render Resolution

You can also change the map resolution in the config file. The setting to look for is:

deftemplatesuffix:

There are 3 standard settings:

  • vlowres
  • lowres
  • hires
The default value is 'hires'. This uses 16 pixels per block and creates very large images. We ask that you change this setting to 'lowres' (4 pbb). Not only will this save space but your maps will update faster. If you plan on having a very large world. Consider using 'vlowres' (2 ppb).
